the artist here at Sable and Soot. I create watercolor paintings in a small room, in a house bordered by blackberry brambles.
In my work I aim to bridge my love of stories, magic, and the natural world. These loves spring largely from the hallowed halls of Gorham MacBane Library, now known as Stokes Brown Library, in Springfield, TN. It was there that I fell in love with the illustrations of Beatrix Potter, H. J. Ford, Arthur Rackham, and Kinuko Y. Craft.

This giclee fine art print was created from my original painting, “Conjuring Fables”. This piece was inspired by the loveliest cow field. The small bowl at the bottom that was the perfect cradle for early morning fog.

This archival art print is a reproduction of my painting “The other End”. The original was inspired by a trail leading to a small waterfall in North Carolina. In folklore, griffins are known for protecting the treasure troves of kings. I believe this fellow has more interesting things to do.
